Team Singapore won 2 Golds, 1 Silver, 2 Bronzes and 17 Medallions for Excellence at the WorldSkills Competitions 2019. Ms Rebecca Sim from Temasek Polytechnic won Silver for the skill category Freight Forwarding at the competition. The Association supported her participation in the global competition by sponsoring her to attend the 3-day course on Certificate in Applying IMDG Code course conducted by The Logistics Academy.
Held every two years, the 45th WorldSkills Competition took place in Kazan, Russia from 22 to 27 August 2019. The competition brought together 1,354 young participants representing 63 countries / regions and competing in 56 skills across a wide range of industries: from joinery to floristry; hairdressing to electronics; and autobody repair to bakery. The competitors represent the best of their peers and they are selected from skills competitions that are held in WorldSkills Member countries and regions. One of the legacies of WorldSkills Competitions is the increased visibility of skilled professional education, as one of the enablers to social and economic transformation.
