SLA is a member of AFFA, a regional organisation comprising national logistics / freight forwarding associations in the 10 Southeast Asian member-states. AFFA promotes freight forwarding through inter-governmental cooperation. Representing Singapore, Mr Stanley Lim continued to be AFFA Honorary Secretary. One of the notable highlights during the year was the induction of AFFA Plus 1, with a MOU signing between AFFA and the Korea International Freight Forwarders Association aimed at strengthening collaboration.
China-ASEAN Multimodal Transport Alliance (CAMTA)
AFFA, China Federation of Logistics & Purchasing, China International Chamber of Commerce and China-Singapore Nanning International Logistics Park (CSILP) signed a MOU on the formation of CAMTA in 2018. With SLA as one of the founding members, CAMTA was established to bring ASEAN countries into CSILP and aimed to boost multilateral trade by strengthening the logistics and supply chain industry in Guangxi.
As a follow up to the establishment of CAMTA, the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor (NILSTC) Conference was organised to build upon earlier initiatives to expand potential business opportunities and deepen the economic and trade cooperation among Singapore, ASEAN countries and Guangxi. Hosted by SBF and supported by SCCCI, the conference was graced by Mrs Josephine Teo - Minister for Manpower on 13 May 2019.
Mr Kay Kong Swan – Chairman represented SLA at the invitation of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Secretary. Mr Stanley Lim – Chairman of Internationalisation Committee was also present to sign the instrument as AFFA Secretary. The highlights of the event include signing of several joint projects as well as all AFFA members signing an instrument for the Alliance to be established in CSILP.
China-Singapore Nanning International Logistics Park (CSILP)
CSILP is an integrated logistics park in southern Guangxi, which is set to play a key role in supporting the Southern Transport Corridor. A Representative Office of AFFA and CSILP was officially officiated by Dr Koh Poh Koon – Senior Minister of State for Trade and Industry on 21 September 2019 during the Opening Ceremony of the 16th China-ASEAN Expo. Mr Stanley Lim - Chairman of Internationalisation Committee and Mr Tan Puay Hin – Chief Executive represented SLA at the event.
